Referral, Screening and Enrollment

Keewaydin Discovery Center provides special education preschool for children ages 3 to 5 who live within Kennewick School District boundaries. Five-year-olds are eligible if they turn 5 by August 31. Children who turn 5 after August 31 should register for kindergarten.

Our program provides specialized instruction and related services for children who qualify for special education.

  • Enrollment at Keewaydin Discovery Center begins with determining a child's eligibility for Special Education services. If you have concerns about your child's development, the first step is to contact our office to request a Special Education Referral Form. The referral form is provided by our office and must be completed before a developmental screening can be scheduled.

Contact our office at (509) 222-5028.

  • Once we receive your completed referral form, our office will contact you to schedule a developmental screening. Screenings are held montly.

Following the screening, a multidisciplinary evaluation team will review the results to determine whether your child meets the eligibility criteria for special education services. If your child is found eligible, we will work with you to complete the enrollment process and prepare for your child's transition into the program.

*Please note that screenings are not conducted during the summer months.
