Final Day of Spirit Week

Tomorrow is the final day of our Back-to-School Spirit Week, and the coziest day of all!

It’s Pajama Day!

Come to school in your favorite comfy pajamas and help us end Spirit Week with some fun!

A Message From Our Principal

We’re excited to share a new resource with our Keewaydin families! Each month, from September through May, we’ll share a two-page e-newsletter from The Parent Institute. It’s a quick and easy read filled with practical, research-based ideas you can use at home to support your child’s learning and development.

When I was an elementary school principal, parents often told me how helpful they found the tips and resources in The Parent Institute’s elementary newsletter. I was excited to discover they also offer an early learning version created especially for families with young children, and I’m happy that we can now share it with our Keewaydin families!

ATTENTION BUS RIDERS!

If your child is a bus rider, they will be sent home on the bus unless you let us know otherwise.

If you do not want your child to ride the bus on a particular day because you are picking them up, please call the school AND message your child’s teacher at least ONE HOUR BEFORE school ends.

If we do not receive enough notice, we cannot guarantee that your child will not be sent home on the bus.

From the School Nurse

It’s that time of year when illnesses start making their way around! With students back together in the classroom, germs can spread quickly.

Please refer to the flyer below for guidance on when your child should stay home from school. Following these guidelines helps reduce the spread of illness and keeps our school community healthy.

Please Pick Up Your Child on Time

Please make every effort to pick up your child on time at the end of their session.

Morning Session: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon Session: 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Our teachers often have meetings, planning, or other responsibilities that begin immediately after students leave, so on-time pick-up is greatly appreciated.

We understand that unexpected delays happen. If you are running late due to traffic, an accident, or another unforeseen circumstance, please call the office at 509-222-5028 to let us know you are on your way.

Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Please drop off and pick up your child on the south side of the KDC building, not at the main office. KDC teachers and paraeducators will be there to greet students.

Families may park on the other side of the fence in the Westgate parking lot or across the street at the ball field and walk their child to the gate by using the crosswalk.

For your child’s safety, please make sure you personally hand your child off to a KDC staff member before leaving. Please do not drop off or release your child without confirming that a staff member has received them.

We receive a high volume of calls in the morning, so if we are unable to answer, please leave a voicemail. There is no need to call back, we will receive your message and record your child’s absence.
